Turkish forces detain 3 FETO suspects at Greece border

Suspects allegedly work at FETO schools, use ByLock mobile phone messaging app

EDIRNE, Turkey (AA) - Turkish security forces held three people at the Turkey-Greece border over links to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind last July’s defeated coup, a security source said Sunday.

In northwestern Edirne province, Turkey’s border guards held a group of people, including children, trying to illegally enter Greece, said the source who refused to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Security forces said the suspects including two women were working at FETO schools, and were accused of using of the ByLock mobile phone messaging app, which FETO members used to communicate with each other during last July’s defeated coup.

The ByLock app is believed to have been cracked by Turkish security agencies, allowing them to identify tens of thousands of FETO supporters.

The children in the group will be handed over to their relatives.

Ankara accuses the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gulen, of having orchestrated the foiled coup attempt, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 others wounded.

The government also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary
