By Jeyhun Aliyev

ANKARA (AA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Thursday met with his counterparts from Burundi, Ivory Coast and Zimbabwe.

Cavusoglu said on Twitter that he met with Albert Shingiro of Burundi, Kandia Camara of Ivory Coast, and Frederick Musiiwa Makamure Shava of Zimbabwe as part of the Third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit in Istanbul.

The first gathering of the Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit was held in Istanbul, the second in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, while the third summit kicked off on Thursday at Istanbul Congress Center.

Held under the auspices of Turkey's Presidency office, the summit, which will run through Dec. 18, is set to be attended by the heads of state or government of African countries and the African Union Commission.

African countries, the African Union Commission and other international organizations have been invited to the event.

Turkey has been a strategic partner of Africa since 2008, Cavusoglu had said on several occasions.

In October, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated that Turkey’s approach towards its ever-growing relations with African states is based on equal partnership and a "win-win principle."
