Turkish group delivers 600 aid packages in Kyrgyzstan

Turkiye Diyanet Foundation will arrange Iftar for 250,000 people around the world

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (AA) - The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) will distribute a total of 600 food packages across the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek and southern Osh city in the first week of Ramadan.

The aid was handed over to a group of religious officials in charge of distribution at the biggest mosque that is currently being built by Turkey in Bishkek.

Speaking at the event, Turkish Ambassador to Bishkek Cengiz Kamil Firat thanked the foundation for their efforts every year.

He said: "During this holy month of Ramadan, I feel deeply honored to at least lend moral support to such great efforts."

Semsettin Unal, the foundation's religious service counselor at Bishkek, told Anadolu Agency that they had prepared food aid packages for 600 families in the capital.

In line with is tradition every year, the TDV will provide 450 food packages to Kyrgyz families in need and another 150 packages to Kyrgyz aid agencies, orphanages and nurseries, said Unal.

He also noted that they will serve iftar (fast-breaking meals) to 510 people during the month of Ramadan.

The foundation aims to become "a voice of welfare" in 84 countries and 326 regions, and deliver food packages to more than 90,000 families this Ramadan.

It will also arrange Iftar (fast-breaking meals) for 250,000 people around the world.
