Turkish international basketballers Sengun, Yurtseven to spearhead campaigns to help quake victims

Both NBA players to auction their teammates' signed jerseys to raise funds for aiding victims of earthquakes in Türkiye

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish international basketballer players Alperen Sengun of the Houston Rockets and Omer Yurtseven of the Miami Heat announced Sunday that they will lead separate campaigns to help victims of last week’s devastating earthquakes in Türkiye.

Both NBA players will auction their teammates' signed jerseys to raise funds for aiding the quake victims.

Yurtseven posted footage of himself on his official Instagram account conveying positive messages about the recovery following the disaster.

The Houston Rockets' official Twitter account posted details about the Sengun-led aid campaign.

Many global sports figures have extended a helping hand to Türkiye following the earthquakes, which were centered in Kahramanmaras province.

At least 29,605 people were killed by two strong earthquakes that jolted southern Türkiye last Monday, the country's disaster agency said Sunday.

The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes affected more than 13 million people across 10 provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Sanliurfa.
