By Fatih Cakmak
ANKARA (AA) - Turkish jets destroyed six targets used by PKK terrorists in northern Iraq on Wednesday evening, the military said.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement Thursday that the airstrikes, which lasted two hours, started in northern Iraq’s Zap and Avasin-Basyan regions around 5.30 p.m (1430GMT).
Scores of caves and shelters used by PKK terrorists in the region were destroyed.
The military gave no information on casualties.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015. The civilian casualties include many women and children.
