Turkish citizens abroad are inseparable part of Turkey, says ruling AK Party lawmaker Mustafa Yeneroglu
By Muhammet Emin Avundukluoglu
ANKARA (AA) - A senior lawmaker of Turkey’s ruling party thinks Turkish citizens living abroad should have their own dedicated commission in parliament.
"It is important that policies concerning our citizens abroad should have a place of priority on parliament's agenda," Mustafa Yeneroglu of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party told lawmakers in parliament on Tuesday.
"I hope a commission for Turks abroad will be formed with all political parties' support as soon as possible," said Yeneroglu, who represents the Istanbul province.
Yeneroglu stressed that they have taken important steps to protect Turkish citizens abroad.
"Our citizens, where ever they are in the world, are an inseparable part of us," he added.
There are more than 5 million Turks currently living in European countries.
