Mustafa Sentop says relations between Turkiye, Kosovo rooted in historical friendship, brotherhood

By Emin Avundukluoglu

ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye’s parliament speaker congratulated Kosovo on its National Day on Thursday.

Relations between Turkiye and Kosovo are rooted in historical friendship and brotherhood, Mustafa Sentop said in a letter to his Kosovar counterpart Glauk Konjufca.

“The close cooperation between our parliaments will develop further in every field in line with the common interests of our peoples, and it will continue to contribute to the stability of the region,” he said.

Sentop also wished health, peace and happiness to the people of Kosovo.

Kosovo formally declared independence from Serbia on Feb. 17, 2008, despite opposition from Serb members in its parliament.

Many countries, including Turkiye, recognized Kosovo’s independence immediately, despite Belgrade insisting that it remains part of Serbia.
