ISTANBUL (AA) – An Istanbul court on Tuesday ordered the leader of Turkey’s biggest opposition party to answer questions over an alleged insult aimed at a son of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to judicial sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu was accused of "publicly insulting Bilal Erdogan through the media".
Kilicdaroglu will testify on Dec. 2, the sources added.
Last month, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Kadir Yilmaz issued an indictment against Kilicdaroglu for comments made about Bilal Erdogan.
Kilicdaroglu claimed Bilal Erdogan had accepted a bribe through the Turkish Youth and Education Service Foundation, of which he is a board member.
The indictment had sought a prison sentence ranging from four months to two years, eight months for the opposition leader.
