Turkish president to meet head of European Council

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Charles Michel, head of the EU Council, will meet in Istanbul on Saturday, said the Turkish Communications Directorate.

A statement late Friday said the meeting will focus on Turkish-EU relations and regional developments.

This visit will be the first-ever visit to Turkey of the EU's new management since taking office last fall.

The EU Council is the EU's main decision-making body, made up of government ministers from every member state.

In the first half of 2020, the Croatian presidency of the EU will chair meetings and hold more than 1,400 gatherings at various levels.
