By Abdulselam Durdak

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AA) - Thousands of Turkish citizens gathered outside Turkish consulate in Rotterdam to protest Dutch government after its ban on ministers.

The protests came after the Dutch government canceled the Turkish foreign minister's flight permit and blocked the family minister's convoy from entering the Turkish consulate.

The demonstrators shouted "We want the minister", "Recep Tayyip Erdogan" and "Turkey" slogans.

Dutch police stepped up the security around the consulate and blocked the traffic.

Dutch police dispersed Turkish citizens who took to the streets to protest police treatment of the Turkish family minister.

In Turkey, hundreds of demonstrators flocked to the Dutch missions in Ankara and Istanbul to protest the moves by the Dutch government.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the actions as a measure by “Nazi remnants and fascists”.
