Turkish security forces ‘neutralize’ five terrorists

HATAY, Turkey (AA) - Turkish security forces neutralized five PKK terrorists in southern Hatay province, the governor's office announced Wednesday.

Gendarmerie special operations teams killed the terrorists in an operation in the Mt. Amanos region, it said in a statement.

The operation is ongoing, it added.

Mt. Amanos -- which is also known as Mt. Nur-- is a range of mountains in Hatay that the PKK/PYD terror group has used to penetrate Turkey from Syria.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people.
