Turkish soldier hurt in Sept. bombing dies in hospital

Specialist sergeant Suleyman Gur injured in PKK roadside bomb blast which martyred 2 village guards in SE Turkey

MANISA, Turkey (AA) – A Turkish soldier wounded in a PKK bomb attack 10 days ago died in an Ankara hospital on Monday.

Specialist sergeant Suleyman Gur was hurt in a roadside bomb blast which also martyred two village guards on the Sirnak-Cizre highway in southeastern Turkey on Sept. 30.

According to military sources speaking on condition of anonymity, Gur was initially taken to Sirnak State Hospital then transferred to Gulhane Training and Research Hospital in the Turkish capital.

Gur’s body will be taken to his hometown in Turkey's western province of Manisa.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. It resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of numerous civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in army operations.
