ANKARA (AA) - A Turkish soldier was martyred during the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria, according to the Turkish military Sunday.
In a written statement, the Turkish General Staff said clashes between Turkish troops and the Daesh terrorist organization had also left three soldiers wounded.
Late Saturday, another soldier, who was wounded earlier in the day, succumbed to his injuries at a Gaziantep hospital, a medical source said.
Earlier on Sunday, the military released another statement saying a total of 42 Daesh terrorists had been "neutralized" in northern Syria as part of Turkish-backed Operation Euphrates Shield over the course of 24 hours.
Turkish authorities use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered, were captured or killed.
Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August to tighten border security, eliminate terror threat along Turkish borders and support opposition forces in Syria.
