Turkish stock exchange begins week down

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 10,586.02 points, decreasing 1.25% or 134.33 points from the previous close.

On Friday, the BIST 100 fell 0.06% to close at 10,720.36 points, with a daily transaction volume of 105.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.52 billion).

As of 10.00 am local time (0700GMT), exchange rates stood at 41.8070 Turkish liras to the US dollar, 48.5380 to the euro, and 55.8010 to the British pound.

The price of an ounce of gold was $4,072.37, while Brent crude oil was trading at $63.40 per barrel.
