Turkish stock exchange climbs 2.98% at Tuesday's close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns 268.14 points at closing bell

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,277.01 points, up 2.98% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 9,077.01, gained 268.14 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,077.01, while the daily high was 9,299.27.

As many as 88 indexes gained in value, while 12 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 92.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.36 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.41 trillion liras ($215.1 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.1195 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 44.5575, and the GBP/TRY traded at 52.9490.

The price of gold was $3,348.20 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $65.55.
