Turkish stock exchange closes Tuesday in the red

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 36.01 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 11,012.12 points, down 0.33% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 11,056.20, declined 36.01 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 10,943.54, while the daily high was 11,070.32.

A total of 53 indexes lost in value, while 46 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 133.2 billion Turkish liras ($3.2 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.17 trillion liras ($245.2 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 41.5820 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 48.8170, and the GBP/TRY traded at 55.9765.

The price of gold was $3,836.05 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $65.95.
