Turkish stock exchange closes Tuesday on low note

Benchmark BIST 100 index down 212.58 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 10,576.45 points, down 1.97% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 10,810.62, the BIST 100 index lost 212.58 points from Monday’s close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 10,373.75, while the daily high was 10,839.11.

A total of 85 indexes lost value, while 15 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 174.5 billion Turkish liras ($4.13 billion), while the overall value of the index was 9.87 trillion liras ($234.4 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 42.2305 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 49.0125, and the GBP/TRY traded at 55.6450.

The price of gold was $4,117.50 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.70.
