Turkish stock exchange down at Thursday's close

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 117.74 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 11,048.11 points, down 1.05% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the day at 11,229.25, dropped 117.74 points from Wednesday's close.

The lowest point for the index was 11,022.97, while the daily high was 11,288.32.

During the day, 73 indexes lost in value, while 27 closed with gains.

The daily transaction volume reached 155.1 billion Turkish liras ($3.75 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.27 trillion liras ($249.2 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 41.3025 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 48.7995, and the British pound traded at 56.1250.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,641.70, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $67.05.
