Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday in red

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 41.34 points in closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday with 13,797.04 points, down 0.3% from the previous close.

After starting at 13,855.79, the BIST 100 index declined 41.34 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest for the index during the day was 13,726.15, while the daily high was 13,888.20.

A total of 48 indexes lost value, while 50 closed in the green.

The transaction volume hit 189.1 billion Turkish liras ($4.33 billion), while the overall value of the index was 13.67 trillion liras ($314.2 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 43.6330 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 51.9610, and the GBP/TRY traded at 59.6560.

The price of gold was $5,033.65 per ounce, while Brent crude was $68.95.
