Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday on low note

Benchmark BIST 100 index down 146.29 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 10,914.10 points, down 1.32% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 11,049.93, the BIST 100 index lost 146.29 points from Monday’s close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 10,871.84, while the daily high was 11,083.34.

A total of 72 indexes lost value, while 28 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 141 billion Turkish liras ($3.35 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.18 trillion liras ($242.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 42.0875 as of 6.24 pm local time (1524GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 48.3595, and the GBP/TRY traded at 54.9610.

The price of gold was $3,950.10 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.30.
