Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday with gains

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns 48.86 points at Tuesday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 11,238.36 points, up 0.44% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 11,210.31, the BIST 100 index gained 48.86 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 11,147.98, while the daily high was 11,244.19.

As many as 48 indexes gained in value, while 51 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 130.8 billion Turkish liras ($3.07 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.58 trillion liras ($249.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 42.5905 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 49.5865, and the GBP/TRY traded at 56.7270.

The price of gold was $4,206.85 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $61.80
