Turkish stock exchange ends week with losses

Benchmark BIST 100 index drops 119.17 points at Friday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 9,356.04 points, falling by 1.26% or 119.17 points from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,461.18, losing 14.04 points from the close on Thursday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,326.14, while the daily high was 9,505.67.

During the day, 70 indexes lost in value, while 27 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 87.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.23 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.53 trillion liras ($219.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.0315 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 44.2495, and the GBP/TRY traded at 52.6705

The price of gold was $3,358.80 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.45.
