Turkish stock exchange opens higher on Friday

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gains over 5 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul opened at 2,238.73 points on Friday, rising 5.53 points, or 0.24%, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index was up 0.14% at 2,233.30 points at Thursday's close, with a daily trading volume of 34.45 billion Turkish liras ($2.35 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly rose to 14.6853 as of 09.58 a.m. local time (0658GMT), from 14.6820 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 16.2616 from 16.2750, while one British pound traded for 19.2731 Turkish liras, down from 19.3470 at the last close.

Brent crude oil sold for around $103.201 per barrel as of 9.59 a.m. local time (0659GMT).
