Turkish stock exchange soars 3.54% at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns over 309 points at Thursday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 9,054.18 points, up by 3.54% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 8,797.54 points, earned 309.6 points from the midweek's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 8,797.54, while its daily high was 9,054.18.

Some 94 indices increased in value, while six declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 98 billion Turkish liras ($3.08 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.7 trillion liras ($244 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.8070 as of 6.15 p.m. (1515GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.7620 and the GBP/TRY traded at 40.6065.

An ounce of gold was at $2,163.55, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.50.
