Turkish stock exchange up at midweek close

Benchmark index gains 102.86 points to close at record 6,106.76 points

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index rose 1.71% to close Wednesday at a new all-time high of 6,106.76 points.

Starting the day at 6,026.12 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 102.86 points compared to the previous close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 5,889.87, while its daily high was 6,121.60.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 5.2 trillion Turkish liras ($200 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 113 billion Turkish liras ($4.3 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,931,20, while Brent crude oil sold for around $76.65 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.0928, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.4038, while the British pound traded at 33.1847 liras.
