Turkish stock exchange up at weekly close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns over 101 points at Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the week at 9,155.32 points, up 1.12% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 9,084.18 points, earned 101.14 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,023.85, while its daily high was 9,174.19.

Some 52 indices increased in value, while 45 declined at the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 123 billion Turkish liras ($3.84 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.8 trillion liras ($245.45 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.9500 as of 6.25 p.m. (1525GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.0600, while the GBP/TRY traded at 41.1570.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,169.10, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.40.
