Turkish stock market closes in red on Monday

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index closed at 2,405.98 points on Monday with a daily loss of 1.55%.

After starting the day at 2,458.73 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased 37.79 points from Friday's close of 2,443.77.

Some 25 stocks on the index rose, 73 fell, and two were unchanged compared to the previous close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was more than 1.9 trillion Turkish liras ($114.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 27 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

Conglomerate Bera Holding was the best performer of the day with its shares up 9.94%, while energy company Odas suffered the most, down 5.54%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,820.40 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $113.7 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT).
