Turkish stock market closes with new records on Friday

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul on Friday gained 0.77% to close at a new record high level of 2,494.37 points, after hitting a fresh intraday all-time high of 2,497.41 points.

This also marked the highest weekly closing for BIST 100.

Starting the day at 2,479 points, the BIST 100 index increased 18.96 points from Thursday's close of 2,475.41 points.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,973 by market close, slightly lower from $1,973.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was $111.23 per barrel after a 0.1% daily loss as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
