Turkish stocks down at Friday's open

ISTANBUL (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 5,396.68 points, down 0.91%, or 49.54 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index had closed Thursday at 5,446.22, rising 0.14%, with a daily trading volume of 99 billion Turkish liras ($5.23 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.9673 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.1059, while a British pound traded for 22.6780 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $81.04 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,838.35.
