Turkish stocks down at Thursday open

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 5,549.81 points, falling 0.20%, or 11.37 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Wednesday at 5,561.18 points, gaining 3.20%, with a daily trading volume of 116.6 billion Turkish liras ($5.05 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 23.3575 as of 09.56 a.m. local time (0656GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 25.0216, and a British pound traded for 29.0741 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $77.02 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,959.65.
