Turkish stocks flat at Friday's open

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index hardly changed from previous close at all-time high

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,575.83 points on Friday, slightly up by 0.01%, or 0.16 points, from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index jumped 1.85% to an all-time highest closing level of 1,575.67 points, with a daily trading volume of 25.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.64 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 9.7410 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 9.7210 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 11.2550 from 11.2430, while one British pound traded for 13.1410 Turkish liras, down from 13.1710.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $81.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
