Turkish stocks flat at Tuesday open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,371.96 points on Tuesday, down 0.09% or 1.29 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went down 1.34% to 1,373.25 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.35 billion Turkish liras ($1.41 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 8.7000 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, from 8.7180 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also declined to 10.3700 versus 10.3960, while one British pound traded for 12.0700 Turkish liras, down from 12.1640.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $73.85 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
