Turkish stocks looking up at Thursday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,393.69 points on Thursday, up 0.13% or 1.77 points from the previous close.

At the midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.59% to 1,391.92 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 8.8970 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.8740 on Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also remained steady at 10.3190, while one British pound traded for 11.9890 Turkish liras, up from 11.9210.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $77.93 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
