Turkish stocks looking up at Tuesday open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,538.91 points on Tuesday, a rise of 0.17% or 2.59 points from the previous close.

At Monday’s close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.94% to 1,536.32 points, with a daily trading volume of 20.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 9.5470 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 9.5260 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 11.0770 versus 11.0170, while one British pound traded for 13.0260 Turkish liras, down from 13.0560.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $85.09 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
