Turkish stocks post strong gains at Monday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index on Monday climbed 2.65% to hit its record high closing level of 2,311.40 points.

Starting the day at 2,264.47 points, BIST 100 index jumped 59.72 points from Friday's close of 2,230.35 points.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,928.75 by market close, up from $1,920.55 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil fell to $109.54 per barrel as of 6.11 p.m. local time (1511GMT) on Monday, down 6.7% from the previous close.
