Turkish stocks up at Friday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 1,456.44 points, rising 0.46% or 6.62 points from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.67% at 1,449.82 points, with a daily trading volume of 17.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.3800 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, from 8.3640 at the previous close.

One euro traded for 10.2500 Turkish liras, versus 9.2150, while British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 11.9200 from 11.8750 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.12 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
