Turkish stocks up at Friday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 1,461.22 points, rising 0.31% or 4.54 points from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down at 1,456.68 points, with a daily trading volume of 16.26 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.4330 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), down from 8.4700.

One euro traded for 10.2840 Turkish liras, versus 10.3300, while British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 11.9810 from 11.9900.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $72.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
