Turkish stocks up at Tuesday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,382.45 points on Tuesday, rising 0.62% or 8.45 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 2.14% at 1,374.00 points, with a daily trading volume of 14.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 8.2800 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, from 8.3040 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 9.9900, versus 10.0300, while one British pound traded for 11.5200 Turkish liras, down from 11.5730 at last week's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
