Turkish warplanes target PKK in SE Turkey operation

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish warplanes carried out airstrikes in southeastern Hakkari province Thursday morning, killing three PKK terrorists and destroying several targets of the terrorist group, according to the military.

The Turkish General Staff said the destroyed PKK targets included mortar and anti-aircraft gun positions in the rural Cukurca district, the statement added.

All Turkish warplanes involved in the operation returned safely to their base.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
