EDIRNE, Türkiye (AA) - Two people, including a PKK terror group suspect, were detained Thursday in Türkiye's northwestern Edirne province.
Two suspects, found while trying to escape to Greece, were arrested under the joint work of the gendarmerie and Uzunkopru Police Department's Anti-Terrorism Bureau.
In the identity query, police determined that both were wanted, with the suspect M.D. sentenced to seven years and six months for being a PKK member and suspect R.T. sentenced to 25 years for forgery and looting of official documents.
The suspects, who were taken into custody, were detained by the court where they were transferred after procedures.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
