ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish security forces "neutralized" a total of seven PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Iraq and Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Four of the terrorists were "neutralized" in the Operation Euphrates Shield zone in northern Syria, while three were targeted in the Operation Claw-Lock zone in northern Iraq, said a ministry statement.
Turkish security forces separately detained a suspected member of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP), a far-left terrorist group, according to sources.
The suspected member was caught in a restricted military zone in the northwestern province of Edirne while trying to escape to Greece.
In the same region, security forces also apprehended a member of the PKK terrorist group who was attempting to flee to Greece.
In its nearly 40-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
