ANKARA (AA) – Results of Türkiye’s May 14 presidential election tabulated by Anadolu were almost exactly the same as the official ones released by the country’s Supreme Election Council (YSK).

Anadolu’s administration started preparing for the polls in February 2022, developing and implementing various systems to ensure seamless coverage and transmission during the polls.

An Election Tracking Center was set up at the agency’s headquarters in Ankara, while a special mobile software was made for on-ground reporting.

This software was used by Anadolu representatives to upload photos of the result sheets at their designated polling stations, which were then tallied at the Ankara center.

On election day, 2,500 Anadolu employees, including permanent, part-time and freelance journalists and support staff, and personnel from a contracted company were on the field to collect results.

To ensure complete accuracy, the results they uploaded using the specially designed system were checked and verified at the Ankara center.

Anadolu started releasing the data to its subscribers only after the YSK lifted its broadcast ban and once results were collected from a certain percentage of ballot boxes.

When 99.87% of the ballot boxes nationwide were opened, the agency informed subscribers that incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had received 49.50% of the vote, with opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu at 44.89%.

The third candidate, Sinan Ogan, was on 5.17%, while Muharrem Ince, who withdrew from the race, had 0.44%.

According to the official YSK results published in the Official Gazette, Erdogan received over 27.13 million votes, bringing his share to 49.52%.

Kilicdaroglu was second on 44.88% with 24.59 million votes, while Ogan got 5.17% and Ince finished at 0.43%.
