Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends midweek with losses

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 11,165.85 points, down 0.15% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 11,186.27, the BIST 100 index lost 17.11 points from its close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 11,147.19, while the daily high was 11,244.19.

During the day, 43 indexes gained in value while 55 closed with losses.

The daily transaction volume reached 146.7 billion Turkish liras ($3.55 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.38 trillion liras ($251.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 41.2805 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 48.9635, and the British pound traded at 56.4670.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,686.30, while the barrel price of Brent oil $67.70.
