Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends Monday with losses

Benchmark index falls 135.5 points on first transaction day of the week

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 10,789.03 points, down 1.24% from the previous close.

Starting the new week at 10,974.29 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 135.5 points from Friday's close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 10,788.69, while its daily high was 11,044.47.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 10.07 trillion Turkish liras ($239.5 billion), with a daily trading volume of 135.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.21 billion).

During the day, 72 stocks on the index declined and 28 rose compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $4,091.55, while Brent crude oil sold for around $63.45 per barrel as of 6.25 pm local time (1525GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 42.2340, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate 48.8350, and a British pound traded for 55.5835 Turkish liras.
