Türkiye's BIST 100 index rallies at Friday close

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended the week at 5,114.97 points, surging 3.13% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 5,102.56 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 155.17 points compared to the previous close.

This week, the benchmark index surged 11.66% after Recep Tayyip Erdogan was reelected the president in Sunday's runoff polls.

The index's lowest value during the day was 5,051.35, while its daily high was 5,146.70.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 4.3 trillion Turkish liras ($205.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 83 billion Turkish liras ($3.97 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,979.35, while Brent crude oil sold for around $75.44 per barrel as of 6.35 p.m. local time (1535GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 20.9007, the euro/lira exchange rate was 22.4881, while the British pound traded at 26.1275 Turkish liras.
