Turkiye’s BIST 100 index up at Wednesday open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,974.17 points on Wednesday, up 4.27 points, or 0.22%, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index was down 1.01% to close Tuesday at 2,017.46 points, with a daily trading volume of 33.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was up to 14.0534 as of 10.09 a.m. local time (0709GMT), from Tuesday's close of 13.9600.

The euro/lira exchange rate rose to 15.5890 from 15.5510, while a British pound traded for 18.6637 liras – down from 18.7200 on Tuesday.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $111.12 per barrel.
