Türkiye's BIST 100 rallies at close to end 4-day losing streak
Stock index surges 4.65% at Thursday's close after central bank's rate hike

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock exchange closed at 5,428.26 points on Thursday, notching its four-day losing streak after the country's central bank raised interest rates by 650 basis points to 15%.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 241.43 points, or 4.65%, from Wednesday's close of 5,186.83.
The index's lowest value during Thursday was 5,152.81, while its daily high was 5,434.61.
The total market value of BIST 100 was around 4.5 trillion Turkish liras ($190.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 96 billion Turkish liras ($4.07 billion).
The price of an ounce of gold was $1,923.65, while Brent crude oil sold for around $74.50 per barrel as of 6.36 p.m. local time (1536GMT).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 24.6674, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 27.0292, and the British pound traded at 31.4353 liras.
