ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Monday at a new record of 3,847.62 points, up 6.08%, or 220.65 points, from the previous close.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 3,641.40 points, while its daily high was 3,854.13.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 3 trillion Turkish liras ($163 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 94.1 billion Turkish liras ($5 billion).
The price of an ounce of gold was at $1,650, while Brent crude oil was around $92.09 per barrel as of 6.21 p.m. local time (1521GMT).
Oil prices increased as the value of the US dollar fell, making dollar-indexed crude oil more affordable to buyers, while China’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged for the second month raised hopes for stronger demand in the world’s second-largest oil consumer.
