Türkiye's external assets rise to $399.2B in October

Country's net international investment position at minus $323.3B as of end-October

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's external assets totaled $399.2 billion as of the end of October, up 0.9% month-on-month, official figures from the Central Bank showed on Friday.

The country's liabilities against non-residents were at $722.5 billion, falling 0.2% compared to September, the bank said.

Türkiye’s net international investment position (NIIP) – assets minus liabilities – was at minus $323.3 billion, down 1.5% on a monthly basis.

As for sub-items under assets, direct investments were at $73.5 billion, rising 1.3% month-on-month, while other investments totaled $137.3 billion, down 0.5%.

Reserve asset items were at $183.6 billion in October, rising 1.9%, while portfolio investments totaled $4.8 billion.

Foreign exchange deposits of resident banks held abroad were at $40.9 billion, reflecting a fall of 4.2% month-on-month.

As for sub-items under liabilities, direct investments under liabilities posted $209.6 billion by the end of October, falling 1.9% on a monthly basis.

Portfolio investments under liabilities were up 0.1% on an annual basis to $131 billion, while other investments rose 0.7% to reach $381.9 billion.
