UAE Etihad Airways orders 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft

Order includes Boeing 787 and 777X jets, powered by GE engines, supported by services package, with deliveries set to begin in 2028, says UAE’s official news agency

ISTANBUL (AA) - Etihad Airways announced on Friday an order for 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft as part of its long-term strategy to double its fleet by 2030, according to the UAE’s official news agency WAM.

The order includes Boeing 787 and 777X jets, powered by GE engines and supported by a services package, with deliveries set to begin in 2028, reported WAM.

“This commitment reflects our approach of carefully managing our fleet and expanding in line with demand and our long-term network plans,” said Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad Airways.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced deals totaling more than $200 billion with the UAE, including a $14.5 billion commitment between Boeing, GE Aerospace, and Etihad Airways, the White House said.

Trump departed the UAE on Friday, concluding his Gulf tour and heading back to the US.

The UAE was the third and final stop of Trump’s regional trip, following visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where he held high-level meetings focused on regional security, investment, and technology cooperation.
